Hello, welcome and thanks for visiting this website Runway-Fever. Hope you enjoy it!
My name is Hans van Dijk and I live in Bunschoten, in the heart of the Netherlands. I was born in 1960 in Amersfoort, at a distance of about 15 kilometers from Soesterberg, or Camp New Amsterdam as it was called by the Americans, who were stationed here during a period of 40 years.
Since I lived close to Soesterberg, I was ‘confronted’ with aircraft during my youngest childhood. I can remember having seen Hunters and F-4 Phantoms flying over our appartment. As a teenager, when I started to become seriously interested in military aircraft, I saw F-4s and visiting aircraft for Soesterberg, almost every day, sitting in my classroom at school. At the age of 16 I started my visits at the fence of Soesterberg to shoot my first Phantoms. I was there when the first F-15s arrived in September 1978, on a grey and cloudy day.
Nowadays I am still infected with the runway fever (hence the name of this website) and I hope to continue photographing military aircraft for many years to come.
